Care Guide
Every Zorameno piece is designed with layered fabrics, sculpted construction, and hand-applied embellishments that set it apart from everyday garments. Because care requirements vary by style and material, the instructions on each item's sewn-in label or packaging always take priority over the general guidance below. If your garment's label is missing or unclear, reach out to us before attempting any cleaning.
Know Your Garment's Components
Formal gowns and occasion sets often combine several distinct materials in one piece. Before handling any garment, identify what you are working with:
- Embellished surfaces — beading, sequins, paillettes, 3D floral appliqués, and fabric rosettes are attached by hand or machine and can loosen under pressure or friction.
- Delicate overlays — tulle, organza, chiffon, and scalloped lace are lightweight and prone to snagging on rough surfaces, jewelry, or sharp nails.
- Structured elements — boned bodices, sculpted cups, and shaped waistlines hold their form through internal construction that should not be compressed or bent.
- Closures — hidden zippers, hooks, and clasps are small and can catch on adjacent fabric layers if forced.
Check the product page for your specific item to confirm which of these apply. Not every piece contains all of them.
After Each Wear
Formal garments do not need washing after a single event, but they benefit from a short reset routine:
- Hang the piece on a padded or wide hanger in a well-ventilated area for a few hours to release body heat and any residual moisture.
- Inspect beaded and appliquéd sections for any stones or elements that shifted or loosened during wear. Do not tug or reattach them yourself.
- Check the hem and slit areas for dirt or grass marks, especially on floor-length gowns.
- Zip all closures before storing so teeth do not snag neighboring fabric.
Responding to Spills and Stains
If a liquid contacts an embellished or delicate area:
- Blot gently with a clean, white, lint-free cloth. Do not rub, scrub, or press hard — friction can dislodge beads or distort lace.
- Absorb as much liquid as possible before it reaches the lining or inner layers.
- Do not apply household cleaners, stain removers, alcohol, or solvents unless the garment's own care label explicitly permits them.
- If the stain persists after blotting, or if the affected area includes dense beading, embroidery, or a structured bodice, stop and consult a professional.
Storing Between Events
Proper storage protects shape and embellishment integrity:
- Hang full-length gowns and cape-style pieces on padded hangers that support the shoulder and bodice weight without pulling on straps or beaded neckline edges.
- Keep garments in a breathable garment bag. Avoid sealed plastic, which traps moisture and can promote discoloration on delicate fabrics.
- Store away from direct sunlight and heat sources, which can fade dyed lace, organza, and beaded surfaces over time.
- Ensure nothing presses against appliqués, rosettes, or raised embroidery during storage — even light, sustained pressure can flatten dimensional details.
- For two-piece sets, store the top and bottom together on the same hanger or in the same bag so they do not shift and snag each other.
When to Seek Professional Help
Take a garment to a specialist experienced with formalwear and embellished textiles if:
- The care label directs you to a specific cleaning method and you are unsure how to follow it.
- A stain has set in or spread beyond a small spot.
- Multiple beads, sequins, or appliqué elements have come loose.
- A boned bodice has lost its shape or an internal structure feels displaced.
- A zipper, hook, or closure mechanism is catching or misaligned.
Do not attempt to reattach embellishments with glue or thread unless you have experience with the specific attachment method used in your garment.
